I need a compact to mow 3-4 acres, and do snow removal and landscaping. Looking at prices, I have been very impressed with the cub cadet 6284 with 28hp cat engine and tight turning radius. Seems $3000 less than jd4115 or NHtc29. Has anyone else compared the cub cadet? Very few people know anything about the 6284 (was called 7284 last year).

The Cadet's have been working quite well with little down time compared to some of the others. Resale is lacking a little but over down time I guess it comes out about the same. At least when you want to use it you can. ....

I am a JD fan but feel that the 4115 is way over-priced for what you get. If you really want a 72" deck, step up to the medium chasis tractors...if a 60" is big enough for you, a 4110 does a great job. (Get a hydro tranny though for mowing and loader work.) If you want a "leftover" 4000 series model, you better hurry because there are not many left. ....

I love my 4115 with 60" belly mower. In addition to mowing, it does all I need it to do. ....
